Your Safety Matters

You deserve to date with confidence. We have built safety into every part of Equal Love, and we want to empower you with knowledge to stay safe — online and offline.

Safe Online Dating

Protect your personal information

Take your time before sharing personal details like your full name, workplace, home address, or phone number. Use our in-app messaging until you feel comfortable and trust the other person.

Trust your instincts

If something feels off about a conversation or a person, trust that feeling. You are never obligated to continue talking to someone. Block and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.

Watch for red flags

Be cautious of people who pressure you to move off the platform quickly, ask for money, refuse to video call, or whose stories seem inconsistent. These can be signs of scams or catfishing.

Keep your account secure

Use a strong, unique password for your Equal Love account. Never share your login credentials with anyone. Enable two-factor authentication if available.

Meeting in Person

Meet in a public place

For your first few meetings, choose a public location like a cafe, restaurant, or park. Avoid going to a private residence until you know and trust the person well.

Tell someone your plans

Let a trusted friend or family member know where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be back. Share your live location if possible.

Arrange your own transport

Drive yourself, take public transport, or arrange a ride. This ensures you can leave whenever you want to, without depending on your date.

Stay sober and aware

Keep a clear head, especially on a first date. Be mindful of your drinks and never leave them unattended. You want to be fully present and able to make clear decisions.

Consent is everything

Consent must be enthusiastic, ongoing, and freely given. It can be withdrawn at any time. If you are unsure, ask. A good connection is built on mutual respect.

LGBTIQ+ Safety Considerations

Your identity, your terms

You get to decide when, how, and to whom you disclose your sexual orientation or gender identity. No one has the right to out you, and we never share your identity data with third parties. If someone on the platform threatens to out you, report them immediately.

Travel and location awareness

If you are travelling, be aware that LGBTIQ+ rights vary significantly around the world. Consider hiding your profile or adjusting your visibility settings when in regions where your safety could be at risk.

Dealing with discrimination

Unfortunately, some people may use dating platforms with harmful intent. If you experience homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, or any form of discrimination, report it to us. We enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy.

Reporting Abuse

If you experience or witness harassment, threats, discrimination, or any behaviour that makes you feel unsafe, please report it immediately. You can:

  • • Use the report button on any profile or message within the app.
  • • Visit our Report page for detailed instructions.
  • • Email us directly at info@equal.love.

All reports are reviewed by our team and treated with confidentiality. You will never be penalised for reporting in good faith.
