Community Guidelines
Equal Love is a space built on respect, authenticity, and celebration of who you are. These guidelines exist to keep our community safe and welcoming for everyone.
Our Core Values
Everything on Equal Love is rooted in four principles: respect, consent, authenticity, and inclusion. These are not just words — they shape every interaction on our platform. When everyone upholds these values, we all benefit.
Be Respectful
Honour every identity
Use people's chosen names and pronouns. Respect how people identify, even if it is unfamiliar to you. Every identity within the LGBTIQ+ spectrum — and beyond — is valid and welcome here.
Communicate with kindness
Treat others the way you want to be treated. Disagreements happen, but there is never a reason for insults, mockery, or cruelty. You can decline interest gracefully without being hurtful.
Respect boundaries
If someone is not interested, accept it gracefully. Do not pressure, guilt-trip, or repeatedly message someone who has indicated they are not interested. No means no, and silence is not an invitation.
Practice Consent
Consent is non-negotiable
Every interaction — from messaging to meeting in person — requires mutual, enthusiastic consent. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, for any reason. If you are not sure, ask. It is always better to ask than to assume.
No unsolicited explicit content
Do not send sexual or explicit photos, messages, or content unless the other person has clearly and explicitly indicated they want to receive it. Unsolicited explicit content is harassment and will result in account action.
Respect privacy
Never share another person's photos, messages, or personal information outside the platform without their explicit permission. Never screenshot conversations to share publicly. What happens on Equal Love stays between the people involved.
No Discrimination or Harassment
Zero tolerance for hate
Hate speech, slurs, and discriminatory language are never acceptable. This includes discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, body type, age, HIV status, or any other characteristic.
No outing
Never disclose another person's sexual orientation, gender identity, HIV status, or any other private information without their explicit consent. Outing someone can have serious real-world consequences and is treated as a severe violation.
No bullying or intimidation
Targeted harassment, threats, stalking, or any behaviour intended to intimidate or humiliate someone is strictly prohibited. This includes creating multiple accounts to circumvent blocks.
Be Authentic
Be yourself
Use your own photos and accurate information in your profile. Catfishing and impersonation undermine trust and are grounds for removal. You are wonderful as you are — lead with authenticity.
No spam or commercial use
Equal Love is for genuine connections, not advertising, solicitation, or promotion. Do not use the platform to sell products, promote services, or recruit.
One account per person
Each person may have only one Equal Love account. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate matches, circumvent bans, or deceive other users is prohibited.
Keep Our Community Safe
Report violations
If you see something that does not belong on Equal Love, report it. Your reports help us keep the community safe. You can report directly from any profile or conversation, or visit our Report page.
No illegal activity
Any illegal activity on the platform will result in immediate removal and may be reported to law enforcement. This includes the distribution of illegal substances, content depicting minors, and any form of trafficking.
Look out for each other
Our community is strongest when we look out for one another. If you notice someone who seems to be in distress or danger, report it or direct them to our Safety resources.
Consequences of Violations
We enforce these guidelines to protect our community. Violations may result in:
- â—†Content removal: offending messages, photos, or profile content may be removed without notice.
- â—†Warning: a formal notice about the violation and expected behaviour.
- â—†Temporary suspension: your account may be suspended for a period while we investigate or as a consequence of a violation.
- â—†Permanent ban: severe or repeated violations will result in permanent removal from Equal Love.
- â—†Law enforcement referral: criminal behaviour will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
The severity of the action depends on the nature and context of the violation. Hate speech, threats, outing, and content involving minors are treated as the most severe violations and typically result in immediate permanent bans.
This is Your Community
These guidelines exist because we care deeply about creating a space where every LGBTIQ+ person can feel safe, seen, and celebrated. When you treat others with respect and kindness, you help build the community we all deserve.
Thank you for being part of Equal Love.
